A philanthropic lady with a strong desire to render loving and compassionate service to hapless senior citizens of our society (who are orphans, homeless and neglected by our own society) has contributed a land measuring 3000 sqfts, in a prime locality of Bangalore to construct and run a free old age home for aged persons.

Appreciating her noble thinking and inspired by it, a group of her friends having same ideals joined her in order to fulfil her ambitious dream and constitutionally formed an NGO called "Omkaar Foundation" which has been duly registered.

This home is an ideal abode for hapless senior citizens where they can spend the balance of their lifetime very comfortably, happily and peacefully.

We have named Omkaar Foundation's 1st project-A free old age home, "VAANAPRASTHA" the third Ashram as defined in our Hindu script.

The name "VAANAPRASTHA" reminds us the sacred scripture's clear definition of four "ASHRAMAS" :-

1. BRAHAMCHARYA
2. GRIHASTASHRAMA
3. VAANAPRASTHA
4. SANYAASA
